Splayfoot – Causes & suitable shoes from Solidus

Noticeable limitations occur especially in people who wear high shoes (high heels). This puts much more strain on the forefoot than shoes with a flat sole. Women are affected most often by fallen arches and/or splayfoot, as their connective tissue is naturally weaker.

Trend-conscious and fashionable at the same time

Comfortable shoes for splayfoot from Solidus are trend-conscious and stylish at the same time. Shoes for overpronation, fallen arches, and splayfoot come in many great models. Whether they’re comfort shoes with a perfect fit, boots, or sandals, they adapt beautifully and look great across the board.

What matters is that the insole is replaceable and the outsole is flexible. Many people confuse softness inside the shoe with flexibility of the sole. A soft insole feels very pleasant to many, but it isn’t always ideal for the foot. Especially if you have splayfoot, make sure your foot gets enough support and is guided in its natural position.

So the question of which splayfoot shoes are the perfect choice is easy to answer: Solidus shoes – comfortable shoes that feel like they were made for me!

Splayfoot

Good to know!

Splayfoot is an often overlooked widespread condition that occurs especially in women. With splayfoot pain, the transverse arch in the front part of the foot has collapsed. The metatarsals and toe base bones are set too far apart and are more splayed than normal. Over time, the feet begin to tilt outward and the forefoot widens—often noticeably.

What matters in a splayfoot shoe is extra width. Simply measure your foot and honestly ask yourself whether your shoes still truly fit—or whether your favorites have started to pinch.

The most noticeable issue for people in pain is that the shoes they’ve been wearing press in the forefoot area. Unfortunately, this pain is often only the beginning of a more complex problem, because splayfoot can affect the entire body.

Over time, poor posture can develop, impacting your whole gait and potentially leading to secondary issues—such as knee pain or even knee osteoarthritis.

Consistency is key with these exercises. Since time is precious in everyday life, these physiotherapy exercises can be easily combined with daily routines. The best part: they’re simple to do, and with daily repetition you’ll quickly notice an improvement in your splayfoot symptoms.

Toe raise (standing on your toes)
Strengthen your entire foot musculature by simply rising onto the balls of your feet. You can do this with both feet at the same time or on one foot only. Circle your heel in each direction.

Sole massage
Stand upright and place a tennis ball under your foot. Massage your foot by rolling it over the ball forwards, backwards, and side to side. Switch feet after 30 seconds.

Foot stretch
Do your feet a favor and treat them to a soothing stretch. Pull your toes down and up using your hand or against the floor, and massage your forefoot with your fingers by gently spreading the “C-arc,” i.e., the base joint of the big toe.

Tip:
Use the time while brushing your teeth and keep the massage ball or tennis ball within easy reach. If you repeat these splayfoot exercises regularly, use special splayfoot insoles, and wear the right shoes for splayfoot, you’ll notice pain relief very quickly. Stay active and work toward healthy feet.

Measuring your shoe width is no problem. And once you know it, finding the right shoes becomes much easier. Special shoes for splayfoot are usually available in width H or K and offer plenty of room in the forefoot. What’s important in splayfoot shoes is that you can insert a splayfoot insole. These insoles help keep your foot in the correct position and relieve discomfort. At the same time, splayfoot insoles can help slow the progression of the arch collapse.

But it’s not only the replaceable insole that matters when choosing the perfect shoes for fallen arches and splayfoot. The upper material of our Solidus shoes is especially soft and stretchy. This helps prevent additional pressure points and other issues.

Modern splayfoot shoes from Solidus are a stylish and comfortable accessory for everyday life, the office, or a stroll through town. Visually, they have very little to do with the cliché of the typical comfort shoe. On the contrary: they pick up on current trends, come in modern, on-trend colors, and can even make broader feet look slimmer.

Our comfortable shoes with metatarsal pad insoles are particularly soft and ideally suited for splayfoot and fallen arches. The stretch materials used combine comfort with a beautiful look and provide a wonderfully pleasant walking experience. Maximum walking comfort is guaranteed!

For most health issues, prevention often comes too late. But before the first symptoms appear, it can still help. Very few people think about how to prevent potential conditions over the course of their lives. Yet splayfoot is not uncommon. Many women who wore high heels as young adults suffer from the consequences years later. At that point, only splayfoot shoes can provide relief. That’s why it’s important to choose shoes early on that effectively and sustainably support the foot’s natural rolling motion. Unfortunately, many models that are “in fashion” tend to do the opposite.

In general, very few people are born with splayfoot. It is almost always the result of wearing unsuitable footwear over many years. When choosing shoes, health-related criteria are rarely the main factor—appearance and style usually carry much more weight. And that’s exactly where Solidus comes in. Unlike many other brands, our range doesn’t focus solely on health. If you’ve compared us with Stuppy, Fidelio, or other competitors, you’ll appreciate our variety. For us, the combination of “health” and “great looks” plays a major role. That’s why you’ll find sustainable shoes in every color and shape for every occasion.

In conventional medicine, insoles are a common form of therapy. Once splayfoot has developed, it will not reverse. However, the right insoles can provide relief and help reduce discomfort. Insoles can be a useful solution, but they also come with disadvantages: they don’t fit in every shoe and can sometimes slip. For this reason, our splayfoot shoes are a better alternative. Slipping doesn’t happen in our shoes. Our customers fully enjoy the comfort and fit.
